you can't play PAL games on a NTSC PS3. NA and Japan PS3's are NTSC. They're two different video outputs. You can play any region-free game, as long as the output format is the same as the systems. A PAL game is coded to output only in PAL on PAL machine. You can make a euro PSN ID nd download the demos from the store, but they won't play. I've confirmed this.

Похоже проблема касается только SDTV. Некоторые PAL игры(например, CoD3) и демо (Tekken) действительно не идут. Видимо для HDTV(только HDMI!) такой проблемы нет.
